On the same day, DER TAGESSPEIGEL reported that a 30-year old
West Berliner on Saturday was refused permission to depart from Schoenefeld
Airport on a trip to Greece although he had valid travel and identification
papers. [rwr note: this
was in the context of extensive harassment of interzone traffic, as an
underlying motif in the Four Power negotiations. However, it is interesting
in that it shows that Schoenefeld Flughafen - West Berlin traffic
was definitely under GDR observation. This fact is important in weighing
the degree of assistance that West Berlin radicals were getting from the
GDR. I do recall discussions as to whether they were waving them
through otherwise strict border controls.]
Kunzelmann Is Arrested in Berlin
- ALL PAPERS - Dieter Kunzelmann, 31-year old former head of a commune
in this city, was identified and arrested at Tempelhof Airport yesterday.
Kunzelmann was diguised and had a fake passport. He is wanted for
arson and furthermore has to serve an eight-month prison term for breach
of public peace and interference with religious service. A search
of his home resulted in the detection of various photographs showing Kunzelmann
in diverse disguises. Most papers published the pictures. The
Berlin police had been tipped off about Kunzelmann going to meet a girl
friend at Tempelhof.
Goal of West Berlin Police Training
- BERLINER ZEITUNG - The West Berlin police is drilled as an emergency
force for the suffocation of strikes and workers' rebellions. This
is confirmed by a documentation recently issued by groups of the democratic
opposition in connection with the police terror against democratic demonstrations.
